Have you brought this up to your doc? Some kids are just teeny, so it could be normal for her…but my 21 month old is 3″ tall.

Everyone has their growth spurts at different times. My 4 year old is 40 pounds and almost 4 foot tall. I have noticed that in the last few months his growth has shot up dramatically. She will have her growth spurt soon I wouldn’t worry too much just make sure she is eating a healthy diet and if you get too worried make an appt with her pediatrician but I honestly don’t think it is a problem at this moment.

Some kids go through a phase like this – sometimes they were a chubby baby and so didnt need more weight and sometimes the child uses more calories than they take in so they don’t gain weight.
Also some kids are just small and skinny – that may be what is normal for her. (doesn’t mean anything much when it comes to what she will be like as an adult).

A friend of mine had a son that did not grow, after extensive testing they found he was not producing growth hormones and had to be placed on them. Bring it up to your doctor and see what they think.

Assuming you feed her a healthy diet and she eats what you feed her; have you had her thyroid checked?
My 2 year old son weighs 23 lbs and is about the same height as your daughter, and they have been concerned about him being underweight for quite some time. They are constantly checking and re-checking his thyroid for abnormalities that would cause his metabolism to work overtime.
Also, look back through both your and your daughter’s father’s gene pools. A small gene can be passed over and you may never even have noticed or recognized it as being a possibility.

I have exact same problem with my daughter. She will be 3 (the beginning of July) and she only weighs 23 pounds, wears 18 month clothing (sometimes it’s too short BUT 24 months need to rolled twice and wear a belt)
Our doctor just watches her and makes sure she is gaining weight (even if it is only a few ounces) or growing taller. To ensure she does not have a failure to thrive problem. We have to give my daughter 8 oz of Pedisure everyday just to make sure she is getting MORE than enough calories.
Maybe ask your doctor for some advice because the other thing our doctor said was that sometimes they need to test their metabolism- it burns the calories too fast.
Good Luck!
